Choose a format
Modal presents a focused card over the current screen. Full-screen gives a major announcement more space. Slide-up appears from the bottom and works well for a shorter nudge. Compare the available previews using realistic copy rather than selecting a format by its name alone.
Make buttons do what they say
Open URL sends the customer to a web address. Use the full intended destination and verify it on a real device.
Deep link routes to a screen your application handles. Ask your developer to confirm the route and any required parameters.
Dismiss closes the message without another destination.
Custom event lets your application handle a named action. It needs corresponding behavior in your app.
Keep the choice simple
An in-app message supports up to two actions. Give the main action a concrete label and use the second for a clear alternative such as “Maybe later.” Avoid two equally prominent actions that lead to nearly the same place.
Review smaller screens
Long titles, images, and multiple buttons compete for space. Check mobile as well as desktop, and review whether the backdrop makes the message distinct from the underlying product. If you use slide-up auto-dismiss, allow enough time to read and act. Save the configuration and test the result in the actual app.
