Requests and roadmap items have different jobs
A feature request captures a customer’s need. A roadmap item describes the work your team plans to deliver. One roadmap item can address several related requests, and a useful improvement does not have to begin as a public request.
Create an item
Open Roadmap and select New roadmap item.
Write a customer-readable title and description of the intended improvement.
Link the relevant requests so the reason for the work stays visible.
Choose the appropriate column: Planned, In progress, or Shipped.
Save the item and review its separate publication state before showing it on the portal.
Move work with care
When changing a roadmap item’s status, review which linked requests should change too. Linked requests are separate records; do not assume every link should receive the same status. For example, shipping part of a larger request may leave that request open.
Explain progress without overpromising
Use descriptions that explain the scope and current state. Avoid treating a Planned column as a guaranteed delivery date. When the work is available, move the relevant item to Shipped and publish a changelog entry describing what customers can now do. Check the public board to confirm the intended items are visible.
